HELP US TO RESTORE & PRESERVE YOUR WOODLAND

We hope you have appreciated the extent of the improvements we have made to the woods over the last few years, and it is our members who have made it possible. Naturally, the ongoing maintenance and improvement of the wood carries a cost and, as a very small charity, we are almost completely reliant on income from both membership subscriptions and the generosity of those enjoying the woods, the general public.

The Amenities Society owns and maintains Darch’s Wood for the benefit of the whole community, but you don’t have to live in Cross-in-Hand to safeguard the future of the wood from the multiple threats it faces. If you are a regular user of Darch’s Wood you can help further improve and safeguard the wood for your future enjoyment by making a donation to the Cross-in-Hand Amenities Society.

Membership

Membership of the Cross-in-Hand Amenities Society is open to all, and costs a miniscule £15.00 per year on a 'per-household' basis. That's just over 4p per day for everyone in your household!

To join please click here to download and fill out this membership form, including the Gift Aid declaration (if applicable to you) and GDPR sections, and return the completed form via email to our Membership Secretary Mike Baker at mikefbaker@hotmail.com

Over the years, the habitat of Darch's Wood has suffered a great deal through a mixture of neglect, disturbance and the encroachment of non-native invasive species such as Sycamore, Himalayan balsam, Cherry laurel and Rhododendron ponticum

Throughout the winter months (i.e. October 1st - April 1st annually) we work hard in the woods to put right as much of this as we can, for you, for future generations and for the health of the woodland. We could certainly do with your help, however!

No matter who you are, your ability or your age, you will be certain to find a warm welcome and, if you donate some of your time to us, you could even go home with some free firewood! If you could bring your own tools, that would be great but they are not strictly necessary as we have a few spare. Appropriate footwear, gloves, and sensible clothing are, however, essential. Keep an eye on our social media platforms, and this website, for dates.

Thank you for your support!
